 Today's Key West Photo February 28 2006 Ernest Hemmingway's House on Stilts? This photo was taken in the late 1960's by my father who was a charter boat owner/captain. This was called "The House On Stilts" and is about 6 miles north of Key West at the mouth of Northwest Channel. It was burned by kids messing around in 1970. The local story always was that Ernest Hemmingway had built it and used it as a place to get away for some solitude. Actually, it was the light house that used to light the main channel coming into Key West. |
